Luxonis is thrilled to invite developers, innovators, and creators from around the globe to participate in RoboRumble I! This event is more than just a contest; it's a celebration of talent, innovation, and the incredible potential of the Hub platform. Our goal is to bring together the brightest minds to solve real-world problems across a variety of industries. We are rewarding the creativity and technical skills of developers, engineers, and tech enthusiasts, worldwide with a number of prizes including $10,000 USD in cash to the overall winner and a Free OAK Camera for all qualifying app submissions!

The competition runs from April 16 - May 24, 2024.

Free OAK For Each Application

We will give a Free OAK-D Lite (or $150 toward any OAK camera) for each qualifying application submitted.

How Does the Competition Work?

  • Pick an Industry Problem

    We have identified 9 different industries where we think computer vision can have an immediate impact. Pick an industry and problem you want to solve to get started.

  • Build a Vision App

    Create your app that is compatible with one of our OAK cameras and upload it to Hub. (Don't worry if you don't have an OAK camera we have a solution for you!)

  • Submit Your App

    We have an esteemed panel of judges from industry experts to investors who will evaluate each of the submitted applications on a variety of criteria.

What are the Focus Industries for RoboRumble?

The following is a list of industries that we have identified as targets for this competition. We've also added a few ideas for general problems that can be solved for each industry. This is meant to mostly be an idea starter. Your application can be big or small in scope - in the end we are looking for a combination of creativity and usefulness.

AgricultureOptimize crop health monitoring, enhance yield prediction accuracy, automate pest detection and control, streamline farm management, and boost precision agriculture practices.
ConstructionAutomated compliance monitoring, material defect detection, progress tracking and reporting, worker localization and safety monitoring, and 3D site modeling and analysis.
Food ServicesMonitor food safety standards, optimize kitchen workflow, enhance customer order accuracy, improve food waste management, and innovate in personalized dining experiences.
ManufacturingAdvance predictive maintenance, optimize production line efficiency, enhance quality control accuracy, streamline supply chain management, and innovate in smart factory integration.
RetailEvaluate real-time customer sentiment, measure in-store ad attribution, manage in-store inventory, improve loss prevention, and calculate customer/product engagement.

Everything you need to know about RoboRumble

Absolutely! We have a replay function for developing and testing your app with pre-recorded footage or snapshots.

Either will do. If you can build the app yourself, by all means do so. Also, if you have a team that you want to work with, go for it! For those that want to work with a team, but do not have one - you can meet potential teammates in the community Slack Channel.

We will accept registrations and app submission from today until May 10, 2024.

There will be prizes of $10,000, $3,000, and $2,000 for the top 3 overall apps submitted, and each submission qualifying submission will get a free OAK camera (we might even give a way a few more to quality team submissions). Also, the top winner from each category will become a Preferred Partner of Luxonis.

We get inquiries every single day asking us to help build vision applications for teams. Many of these are too small in scope for our team as we focus on building the best hardware we possibily can. We are building a partner network so that we can refer these opportunities to trusted teams. Top submissions in each industry will earn preferred partner status to be introduced to these opportunities.

You will receive a score of 1 - 10 for each of 3 categories: Technical Performance, Business Performance, and User Experience and Design. More details on the specific elements that make up these scores will be available to registered participants.

You can create your application in Python or C++. You can also write your application in our cloud-based IDE within Hub.
